Privacy Policy

Bored Billionaire (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates boredbillionare.org. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you upload a bill, browse the deck, or pay through Stripe, and how we use it. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
Who we are
Bored Billionaire is a web app that lets people upload bill photos and stories, and lets others cover those bills through secure checkout.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide and information generated when you use the Service:
- Bill uploads: photo of your bill, title, story, amount, category, display name, contact email, and payout method plus handle (for example Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, or email).
- Payment activity: when someone pays a bill, Stripe processes card details. We receive payment status, session identifiers, and related transaction metadata-not your full card number.
- Technical data: IP address (stored on bill records for fraud prevention and support), device or browser type, pages viewed, and basic usage logs needed to run and secure the Service.
- Optional communications: messages you send to us about a bill or the Service.
How we use information
- Publish and display bill cards so others can swipe and decide whether to pay.
- Process payments through Stripe Checkout and update bill status after successful payment.
- Contact uploaders about status, payout follow-through, fraud review, or support.
- Operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service, including abuse prevention.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run the product:
- Stripe: payment processing and fraud prevention for checkout.
- Infrastructure providers (for example cloud hosting, databases, and file storage) that process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Public-facing bill content: photos, stories, amounts, and related display details you submit may appear on swipe and bill pages. Avoid uploading account numbers or other sensitive identifiers you do not want public-blur them before upload when possible.
- Legal or safety: when required by law, or to protect users, the Service, or others from fraud or harm.
Payout details
Payout handles and contact emails are used so funds or follow-up can reach the uploader after a successful payment. Treat payout fields carefully: wrong handles can delay help. We may use your contact email for status and support related to your bill.
Cookies and similar technologies
We may use essential cookies or local storage for basic site function, security, and session continuity. Third-party processors such as Stripe may set their own cookies during checkout according to their policies.
Data retention
We keep bill records, payment metadata, and related logs for as long as needed to operate the Service, complete payouts, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and improve safety. You may request deletion of personal data you provided through the contact email you listed on your bill; we may retain limited information when required for legal, security, or financial records.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. Do not upload government ID numbers, full bank account numbers, or other highly sensitive data in bill photos or stories.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, use the contact email on the relevant bill listing and we will take appropriate steps.
International users
The Service may be hosted and operated in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries where our providers operate.
Your choices
- Do not upload a bill if you are uncomfortable sharing the photo and story publicly on the Service.
- Blur or crop sensitive account details before uploading.
- Use the contact email you listed on a bill to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable law.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
