Terms of Service

The Service

Bored Billionaire lets users upload photos and stories about bills (“Uploaders”) and lets others browse those bills and, if they choose, pay through Stripe Checkout (“Payers”). The Service is inspired by a public idea about generous people covering everyday bills. It is not affiliated with Elon Musk, X, or any other third party unless we say so explicitly.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that any bill will be paid, viewed, or featured.

Eligibility

You must be legally able to enter a binding agreement in your jurisdiction and old enough to use online payment services. You may not use the Service for illegal activity, fraud, or to harm others.

Uploader responsibilities

• Provide accurate contact and payout details (email and Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, or similar).
• Only upload bills you are authorized to share. Do not upload others’ private documents without permission.
• Blur or remove sensitive account numbers, Social Security numbers, and similar identifiers when possible while keeping the amount readable.
• Do not post fraudulent, misleading, duplicate, or abusive content. We may remove bills and refuse service at our discretion.
• Understand that bill photos and stories may be publicly visible on the Service.

Payer responsibilities

• A right swipe or “pay” action is not a pledge until Stripe Checkout completes successfully.
• Payments are voluntary gifts or contributions to help cover a listed bill amount, subject to these Terms and Stripe’s terms.
• You are responsible for the payment method you use and for reviewing the bill details before paying.
• Platform fees may apply and are disclosed or calculated at checkout as configured by the Service.

Payments and payouts

Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. After a successful payment, bill status may update to paid on the Service.

Payouts to Uploaders (for example via Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or Cash App) may be handled manually or through processes we choose. Timing depends on verification, fraud checks, correct payout handles, and operational capacity. We are not a bank, money transmitter in every jurisdiction, or guarantor of instant transfer.

If payout details are wrong, incomplete, or inaccessible, delivery of funds may be delayed or fail. Use the contact email on the paid bill listing for support related to that bill.

Fees

The Service may charge a platform fee on payments (for example a percentage of the bill amount). Fees help operate the product. Applicable fees are reflected in checkout or related configuration. Third-party processors may also charge their own fees.

Refunds and disputes

Because payments are often intended as voluntary help for a real bill, refunds are handled case by case and may not be available after payout follow-through has begun. Chargebacks and payment disputes are subject to Stripe and card-network rules. Use the contact details associated with the bill promptly if you believe a payment was made in error or a listing was fraudulent.

Intellectual property and license

You retain rights to content you upload, but you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate and promote the Service. You represent that you have the rights to grant this license.

Bored Billionaire branding, site design, and original materials are owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied for commercial use without permission.

Prohibited uses

• Fraud, money laundering, scams, or misrepresenting bills or need.
• Uploading illegal, hateful, harassing, or sexually exploitative content.
• Attempting to reverse engineer, scrape at abusive rates, or disrupt the Service.
• Using the Service to collect payments for goods or services outside the intended bill-help use case without our written consent.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT BILLS WILL BE PAID, THAT PAYOUTS WILL BE INSTANT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES, OPERATORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE PLATFORM FEES WE ACTUALLY RECEIVED FROM YOU IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of others’ rights.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy at /privacy explains how we collect and use information. By using the Service, you also acknowledge that policy.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
