Your photo is the proof. A dark, tilted, glare-covered image makes even a real bill look suspicious. A clean shot makes a stranger comfortable enough to swipe.
Capture checklist
- Use daylight or a bright lamp - avoid yellow overhead murk
- Fill the frame with the document, not your whole kitchen
- Keep the total and creditor name sharp
- Watch for flash glare on glossy paper or screens
- Crop extra clutter after you shoot
Phone screen statements
If the bill lives in an app, raise screen brightness, turn off night mode if it washes numbers out, and shoot straight-on. A second photo is fine if the first one blurs.
Redact after you confirm readability
Cover sensitive IDs only after you know the amount is still obvious. Many rejected-feeling cards fail because the total got covered by accident.
